Dutch Trip

Keukenhof
Keukenhof is the worlds second most famous garden, with approximately 7 million flower bulbs planted annually. The garden is located in South Holland in the town of Lisse. We spent almost four hours wandering around the gardens. Although it was late in the season (with the park closing in a week) it was still beautiful. If you visit earlier in the season you can take a boat ride around the tulip fields or rent a bike to explore the fields. There was a river through the park and many exhibits creatively decorated with flowers.

Wooden Clogs for Sale
Dutch Cheese

Hot Chocolate
Zaanse Schans

Zaanse Schans is a typical Dutch area located in North Holland. Beka and I began by looking through a store filled with wooden clogs, complete with a clog making demonstration. Afterwards we went to a cheese shop and took many free samples of Dutch cheese, buying some for ourselves for later. We walked around looking at the windmills and many animals in the area.

Volendam
Volendam is a traditional Dutch fishermen town located in North Holland. This was our last stop of the day. We walked around the town for a while and then stopped for dinner. We ate fish and chips beside the water, which proved to be difficult with the birds constantly trying to steal our food.
