Frankfurt Germany

Yesterday was one of the longest travel days I’ve had in a while. Laura and I left Andrea’s house at 7am. Throughout our journey from Thiene to Erfurt we took a car, train, train, plane, bus, train, and tram. We didn’t arrive at her house in Erfurt until 23:00 thanks to an hour-long delay of our last train. The train personnel announced in German that the conductor was missing and there had been a bomb alarm at one of the stations we were supposed to pass through. Thankfully the bomb alarm was completely false.

The distance between Frankfurt Hahn airport (where Ryanair flies to) and Erfurt is quite lengthy so we decided to make a stopover in Frankfurt for a few hours. Frankfurt as described by Laura is one of the least desirable German cities to visit. It does not make money from tourism but instead from its industries. We arrived at the train station around 16:45 and stepped out to 34-degree weather. After locating a map we walked to the historical centre, one of the only remaining ones in Frankfurt. We looked at the church, and took a rest in an art exhibition covered in beanbag chairs with a German voice telling us to meditate.

Walking along the river we found a nice café to have some dinner. I had a craving for fruits and oats and Laura had a vegetable pizza. We slowly walked back to the train station after dinner, passing a theatre boat along the way. After an hour delay and 2.5 more hours on a train we arrived home!
