After everyone was on board with the Zoo visit, we made our
way to the park. We opted to get to the Zoo in style, so we chose to take a
canal boat to our destination. The ride took about an hour and a half, and we
were able to see more of the city along the way. It was a beautiful day,
despite the rain forecast, and we enjoyed taking the scenic route!
Since the boat ride ended around lunch, we also stopped to
eat before entering the Zoo. We found a small restaurant along the way, which
proved to take longer than expected. Once the food came, we were thankful to be
eating, and scarfed down the meals quickly.
Alas, we arrived at the Zoo. It was huge! The Zoo had all the animals we could imagine, and we consumed ourselves with watching them for hours. The giraffes, lambs, and meerkats especially amazed us. They were so adorable!
We stayed until the Zoo closed, which meant we had to walk
back down the hill from the African savannah sanctuary. Originally, we had
ridden the tram up to see the rest of the Zoo (so cool!), so the walk did us
good (especially after the mini doughnuts we ate).
Once we left the Zoo, the group was pretty tired from all the excitement. We opted for a night in, and headed to the grocery store to pick up food to make for dinner. Lucky for us, Jiri offered to cook us his specialty dish of “bread soaked in eggs with cheese on top”. We were more than thrilled to have a home cooked meal made for us.
Before retiring for the night, we made a quick stop off at
the “biggest statue of a man riding a horse in Europe” (or so the Czech guides
say). The horse was impressive, but the view from the top of this peak was
phenomenal. We loved it! We finished off the night with a special Czech song
and dance from Jiri, and his friends. Enjoy!
