Today was yet another day of sight seeing
in Prague. We (Mishaela, Jiri, James and I) explored the Prague Castle,
as well as the Petřín Lookout Tower.
We started off by making our
way to the tower. Once we arrived, we climbed all the way to the top
(it was 299 steps). The tower was made by a few enthusiasts who had travelled to Paris and seen the Eiffel tower. They were so impressed by it that they decided to build one in Prague. They gathered money (donations from other enthusiasts) and constructed the tower (in 1891) The view was fantastic, and allowed for a 360-degree view
of the city. (The second of four great views we had in Prague)
After the tower, we moved to
the hall of mirrors. The first part of the attraction was a maze of mirrors, in which you could see yourself from every angle. The second half was filled with distortion mirrors, which were not all that flattering for the most part.
We decided lunch was next on
the agenda, so we made our way to the city center to find a place to eat. We
stumbled upon a restaurant that looked good, and enjoyed another cheap meal. (Loving the Czech Koruna!). After lunch we headed over the Prague Castle. Here we looked around and saw yet another great view of the city.
Unfortunately for us, the
weather was not so good. But luckily for me, Jiri let me wear his coat all day (and insisted that he didn't mind getting a bit wet). While walking around we found a cookie shop that had It had all sorts of beautifully decorated
cookies, including a full replica of a street in Prague. It even had a cat cookie that resembled Charlie, my roommates cat in
Waterloo, so of course I had to get one.
Finally, we made it to the castle!
We walked all around, but cut the trip short because us girls were getting
tired. We spent the night making dinner together and
chatting until later. That night I Skyped with Rena, Ellaisha, and Andrea who are all staying with Andrea's family in Venice. Thus far, Prague is in the lead for one of the best stops
on the trip with Mishaela!
